On a Wheel and a Prayer is a project of United Charitable Programs, a registered 501(c)(3) public charity. All donations are tax deductible.
All funds raised by On a Wheel and a Prayer are received by United Charitable Programs and become the sole property of UCP which, for internal operating purposes, allocates the funds to the Project. The Program Manager makes recommendations for disbursements which are reviewed by UCP for approval.
United Charitable Programs administrates small non-profits like OaWaaP to ensure all of the strict IRS criteria for non-profit status are 100% adhered to. All funds donated are processed through UCP and funds are only paid out to Don and Jenny after they have applied for reimbursement with clear proof of expenses that meet the criteria. The food for their home-prepared meals while serving are reimbursable, for example, but many other living expenses (eg: paper towels) are not.
Don and Jenny are not allowed, by law, to donate to this non-profit, and of course support themselves as much as possible. The sole purpose of On a Wheel and a Prayer is to enable Don and Jenny Rasmussen to devote their time, talents and hearts to Jesus through service to Christian Missions. Currently Don and Jenny will be supporting SOWERs, a mobile mission that helps many Christian Missions maintain their facilities so the mission themselves can focus on outreach and evangelism.
